Copyright strikes from Shueisha, the Japanese publisher and media conglomerate. Lightning provides English localizations for VIZ Media, which is jointly owned by Shueisha and Shogakukan. Under Shueisha's imprints are many well-known manga, including One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, Blue Exorcist, and Oshi no Ko, with many more scheduled for upcoming anime adaptations, like Mission: Yozakura Family and Kimi ni Todoke's third season. Lightning primarily translates and provides notes on '2023's breakout hit', Nue's Exorcist, while also using their social media platform to provide interview translations of famous mangaka and supplementary notes on Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen. After numerous copyright strikes by Shueisha, with nearly all of their recent media removed, Lightning announced a frustrated decision to fans last week via X (formerly Twitter).
